1. What English-taught degree programs do SUES offer?
A: Currently SUES offer 3 English-taught degree programs: International Economics & Trade, Artificial Intelligence, and Textile Engineering. All are Bachelors.
2. Do English-taught programs at SUES provide online classes?
A: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, all classes of English-taught programs at SUES are delivered online currently. Many students attend online classes from their home countries for now. Students will be announced for further notice.
3. Is TOEFL or IELTS mandatory for application?
A: No. SUES provide written English test for English-taught program applicants. Those who are native English speakers, or provide either 60 minimum for TOEFL (ibt) or 5.5 minimum for IELTS, can be exempt from this test.
4. Do SUES provide scholarship for English-taught programs?
A: Yes. English-taught programs offer SUES Scholarship to students, which covers tuition (or part of tuition) and comprehensive insurance, yet not covering the accommodation, living costs, textbooks, etc.
Students who pass the annual review may continue to obtain the scholarship in the next academic year. The annual review is comprehensive, which depends on academic performance, behavior, class attendance, etc.
5. How much is the tuition fee for English-taught programs?
A: The tuition fee for English-taught programs is CNY 20,000/yr/student from 2022, while an extra comprehensive insurance of CNY 800 is required for students coming to China. Most students have their tuition and insurance covered by SUES Scholarship.
6. What are the living options for students of English-taught programs?
A: Students of English-taught programs in Shanghai may choose to live on campus or off campus. The dormitaries are all squad-rooms (shared by 4 students each), with accommodation fee of CNY 1200/yr per occupant.
7. Is there any application fee charged for English-taught programs?
A: No. Application is FREE for all English-taught degree programs!
8. Do I need to mail hard-copies for application?
A: No. All applications are processed online currently. Applicants register and submit all documents at SUES International Student Service System http://admission.sues.edu.cn.
9. Is there any limitation on nationality for eligibility of English-taught programs?
A: There is no limitation on nationality. Nevertheless, applicants of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have immigrated to other countries, or non-Chinese with Chinese citizen parent(s) settled abroad, should meet the conditions set by the Document No. 12(2020) of Ministry of Education of the PRC.
10. Do I have to study Chinese language for English-taught programs?
A: Yes. Although there’s no requirement for Chinese proficiency for admission of English-taught programs, students need to pass HSK-4 before they graduate. A number of Chinese language classes will be offered during their study.
11. Where do the English-taught programs locate?
A: Students of English-taught programs in Shanghai spend their freshman year at Changning campus of SUES and the rest 3 years at Songjiang campus.
12. Do you accept transfer students or credits?
A: Temporarily not. All students need to start from freshman year for English-taught programs.
